About Whittaker Construction
In 1974, Dan Whittaker started Whittaker Excavating with a small crane and other heavy equipment. Dan quickly became a key subcontractor for many general contractors in the area along while providing excavating services to local farmers, homeowners, and small municipal projects. In the early 90’s, Whittaker Excavating began to grow, taking on larger projects and added many talented tradesmen to assist with the growing demand of being a general contractor. Shortly after Dan’s tragic passing in 2001, Jason Whittaker, changed the name of the business to Whittaker Construction and Excavating, Inc. (WCEI). Following in his father’s footsteps and with the assistance of Mike Botts, WCEI continued to grow, taking on more general contractor projects.
Today, 47 years later, WCEI continues to build upon the foundation Dan started years ago, specializing in earthwork, utility installation, cast in place concrete and general trades. WCEI maintains its presence in Northern Illinois, still working out of the same office Dan established in Earlville, Illinois, specializing in the construction of water and wastewater treatment projects along with other key municipal, industrial, and institutional projects.
